DIY: Washi Tape Switchplate

Guys, I have an obsession with washi tape. You know, the colorful rolls of tape that come in every single pattern you can imagine? I've been browsing through Pinterest to find different items to add washi tape on, but I've only decorated my Moleskine notebooks and a swatchplate (which is what this post is about, as you probably already knew) so far. This is the DIY tutorial (by crab + fish) that I followed and it was extremely easy! She even lets you know which direction to fold the tape to keep the design looking neat.

When I was in elementary school, I thought it was super cool to decorate my switchplate with stickers that said "2 COOL!" and "CUL8ER." But I ripped it off one day and never touched it again so it ended up looking like this mess for about three years since I left for college ... yeah, yikes. Good thing I always have nail polish remover in my room, because that removed all the residue very quickly.

Once you have a blank switchplate to work with, you'll only need three things: washi tape, scissors, and a screwdriver.

Everything is super simple; just follow your washi tape pattern and you'll soon get something that should kinda look like this ...

I'm sure you can tell that it's taped a little crookedly, but it's unnoticeable when it's on the wall. It took me less than half an hour and if your mom won't let you chevron a whole wall, might as well just chevron a small part of it ;)
